Teach Iowa Scholar Program Offers Awards to New Teachers

Posted on Updated on

Teachers are often a vital link connecting students with an improved education and the motivation to continue on to college or other post-secondary education. Recognizing the need for that strong presence in the classroom, Iowa College aid provides qualified first-year Iowa teachers with awards of up to $4,000 a year, for a maximum of five years, through the Teach Iowa Scholar Program.
Qualified teachers who are currently teaching in designated shortage ares under their first contracts in Iowa schools can currently apply for the program, which is continuing to accept applications beyond the priority deadline of Feb. 1, 2015. Eligibility criteria, teaching fields and more information, as well as a link to an application, can found here.
